Video: Riley Sorn highlightsSee Washington's new commitment in action. For high school basketball fans around the state of Washington, the recruitment of
Riley Sorn was a bit of a head-scratcher.
At 7-foot-3, he played for one of the best programs in the state at
Richland, nearly recorded a triple-double in the state tournament as a junior and was named the WIBCA Class 4A Player of the Year as a senior.
Despite the mystery and seeming lack of interest by big time college programs, all ended well for Sorn as he committed Monday to Washington.
According to
247Sports, Boise State, Pepperdine and Washington State also extended offers.
Richland compiled a 45-10 record over the past two seasons with a pair of trips to the state tournament behind the play of Sorn, who averaged over 16 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots per game as a senior.
Sorn had a breakout performance in the state tournament as a junior in a win over powerhouse Federal Way, recording 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
Riley Sorn isn't too hard to find in Richland's team picture. The Bombers went 24-3 and reached the Class 4A state semifinals this season.
