Several students at Springfield High took a tractor to school on Monday instead of a car or bus.

Tractor Day is an annual event at Springfield Local. Dozens of students rode their Kubotas, Fords and John Deeres to school.

Even Superintendent Tom Yazvac rode in on his 1951 Farm All Cub, which he had refurbished by students at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.

He said Tractor Day is one of his favorites and the students love it, too.

“It shows where we’re from. It gives the kids an opportunity to show off where they’re coming from. This is all about our culture here. Springfield has a lot of agriculture farms here and the kids are proud of it.”

Every year, the students sell t-shirts promoting Tractor Day. This year, the back reads, “Just cause it’s smokin’ doesn’t mean it’s brokin’.”
