The Ohio Department of Natural Resources dispatched their K-9 Unit to look for a possible missing person in Paint Creek near Alum Cliff Road on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

CHILLICOTHE - The search for an 18-year-old male who went into Paint Creek early Sunday morning is expected to continue on Monday.

Capt. Mike Preston, of the Ross County Sheriff's Office, said the search, which began at 6 a.m. Sunday, would continue until nightfall. Deputies were planning to keep watch in the area overnight.

According to Preston, deputies were told the teen, whose name hadn't been released as of 6:45 p.m. Sunday, and a group of others had been camping on an island in the creek in the area of Buzzard's Roost Nature Preserve off Red Bird Lane when the teen went into the water and never resurfaced. Someone in the group used a cell phone to call for help at about 3:15 a.m. on Sunday.

Several agencies including divers and trained K9s have been searching the creek and the immediate area for the teen.
