Hello,
I'm new to posting in the Morris Forum even though I've owned by Traveller for nearly 26 years and she's been a wonderful little car for running around Devon. Over the last few years she's developed a problem which mechanics don't seem to resolve. She is very difficult to start and then began to run rough as if she was misfiring and then she would stop and not go forward before restarting in about 10 minutes. After that I had to keep the choke out and she didn't like going into fourth gear and I had to keep her reved up and she manage third. The mechanic thought that it was a carburettor problem which meant she was running very weak and so the mechanic adjusted it to run richer. In order to try and resolve these issue she's had a new coil, fuel pump, alternator fitted and has an electronic ignition installed and a new catalyst converter. Although she's still difficult to start she runs fine and I crossed Dartmoor driving for about one hour. However when I stop to put her into the garage or stop in town she just doesn't want to start again.
She is left in a garage for a couple of weeks at a time (longer over the Winter) before I go down to Devon and take her out, however I feel very nervous about crossing Dartmoor so does anyone have some advice for me to give to the mechanic as I don't service the car.
Many thanks Lynne

I've never heard of a Minor with a catalyst converter Lynne.
I suggest you ask your mechanics if they will use your Minor as their daily driver for a while.
That way, they get first hand information about what's going on.
Unfortunately, what you are asking of us is much like asking us to pin a tail on a donkey whilst blindfold

I understand exactly why you wish to leave this forum Chris.
You don't get the help / information you would like.
I also understand that you contribute substantially to your own downfall.
If you remembered your Mum's advice that you should use your Ps and Qs
as in please and thank you, you would be far more likely to get satisfaction.

The meaning of words in English English depends on the context Jim.
I daresay in American English too.
In the context with my post Ps&Qs could only mean please and thank you.
I've never heard Ps&Qs used where it would mean pints and quarts.
Wikipedia thinks it may have been used by bar men to remind customers they were drinking too much.

I heard that "mind your P's and Q's" referred to pints and quarts. Before that I thought is was Please and thanQues but the new source was quite sure about the pints and quarts that a pub server was keep track of.

There are many things that can contribute for your problem. I would try to find a mechanic that understands these cars, the one you have obviously does not. Is there a Morris Minor club around there? Maybe a kind member can give guidance. Sorry about the blithering fools that are doing their best to run others off around here, it didn't used to be that way.

Blithering idiot yourself Phil.
I'd like POMM to stay on this forum.
POMM's leaving because he's not getting information from members when he asks for information from them.
Information that he uses to help members of this forum.
The best way to get people to help you in my culture is to use the terms "Please" and "Thank you."
If members don't give POMM the information he wants / needs in order to help members on this after he has been faultlessly polite,
I don't know how to help him.
Have you any ideas how to get folks to give POMM the information he needs to help other people please Phil?
Thank you for reading my request Phil
I look forward to reading your reply
