DIY REAR DISC BRAKE CONVERSION - A NEW MILESTONE

Dear Morris Minor enthusiasts:
We are pleased to announce that we are about to reach an important milestone. We expect this year to reach the 100th DIY rear disc brake conversion!
So far, dozens of Spridget drivers--and importantly for this message, a few enterprising Morris Minor owners--in seven countries including the United States have now successfully converted to rear disc brakes, as reflected here: https://www.creativespridgets.com/customer-cars/ The owner-installers range from backyard hobbyists tackling their first modification, to racers here and abroad who demand superior braking performance. Many of them have provided photos and tips that have improved the online installation instructions or helped to reduce the cost of conversion, resulting in a truly interactive workshop. https://www.creativespridgets.com/disc-brakes-1/
The one-piece, CNC-machined 6061 aircraft aluminum adapter at the heart of the conversion has withstood spirited street driving and the rigors of the race track. However, we are contemplating at least one change with the next production run of adapters that directly impacts Morris Minor owners. That is, a few Morris Minor owners have asked us to include a second set of mounting holes to accommodate their cars 'out of the box,' as it were.
Right now, Morris Minor installers must rotate the adapter on the axle flange to position the caliper ahead of the axle and above the leaf spring, use a scribe to mark the new holes, and then drill 5/16" mounting holes accordingly. The first Morris Minor owner to perform this conversion, Charlie Durning, reports that the correct offset on his car was 7/8" measured in a straight line, center-to-center. We will be ordering a new production run sometime this year and want to include you in our decision!
Regardless, we hope to continue offering the rear-disc brake adapters for years to come, and as always 100% of sales goes into R&D for new projects--such as the SU HIF44 combination performance air cleaner, ram pipe, and turbo/supercharger adapter, and the soon-to-be-released Eaton M45 supercharger adapter--or additional production runs of popular products like the rear disc brake adapters.

This DIY conversion gives excellent balance with my 9.75 front disc brakes.
If it was good 60 years ago, does that mean it can't be improved?

This is how I drilled the brackets to fit my Morris Minor. In this case they are handed right and left. Joel would it be practical to drill the brackets with 8 new holes so they are not handed?
If it was good 60 years ago, does that mean it can't be improved?

It may well be viable to drill them that way--and in fact it would be preferable from a production standpoint. This will require a straightforward experiment to eliminate clearance issues. Let me put that in the R&D cue, with an eye toward resolving this issue before ordering the next production run.
