The Austrian media authority KommAustria plans to issue a tender for two DVB-T2 multiplexes this summer. They could offer up to 30 new channels.
The move is part of the third digitisation phase, which started on May 1, 2011 and involves the launch of two more multiplexes, Mux D and Mux E, said the broadcast and telecoms regulator Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungsbehörde (RTR).
Following the tender, KommAustria will issue the licences with the aim to launch the new channels as early as the first half of 2012.
