Wallace launches two homers in a win over Clear Fork; Lady Rams get back on track with win

There were plenty of runs and plenty of strikeouts to go around on Wednesday in high school softball and baseball.

Softball

Ontario 9, Clear Fork 1

The Ontario Lady Warriors picked up a huge win over Clear Fork 9-1 on Wednesday.

Lebriana Wallace launched a pair of home runs for her only two hits of the day and Addi Kissinger added three hits with a double while Lauren Musille took care of business in the circle tossing all seven innings allowing no earned runs on just seven hits with two strikeouts.

Hallie Gottfried led the way for Clear Fork with two hits while Carson Crowner, Zara Thomas, Courtney Palmer, Whitney Snavely and Reagan Marshall added one hit apiece.

The Lady Colts fall to 12-4 on the season and travel to Buckeye Valley on Friday.

Ontario improves to 5-1 on the season and is set to travel to Lexington on Friday.

Madison 14, West Holmes 4

After a tough Wendy's Classic, the Madison Lady Rams got back to their winning ways with a huge 14-4 win over West Holmes on Wednesday.

Madison collected 16 hits on the day led by Sloan Kiser with four hits, Egypt Murphy with three hits, Leah Boggs and Mackenzie Mullins with two hits apiece and Paige Eldridge, Taylor Moore, Jena Wigton, Morghan Russell and Julia Litt with one hit apiece. 

Murphy led the way with four RBIs while Boggs had three and Kiser, Moore and Wigton had two RBIs apiece.

Kiser also took the win on the mound tossing all five innings allowing four hits, four runs, none earned, with four walks and four strikeouts.

The Lady Rams improve to 10-2 on the year and travel to West Holmes today.

Crestview 10, South Central 0

The Crestview Lady Cougars shutout the South Central Lady Trojans in a big Firelands Conference matchup on Wednesday 10-0.

Paige Schaefer and Kylie Ringler led the way with three hits apiece while Natalie Restille and Clare Robertson added two hits apiece and Anna Stimpert, Brynn Witmer, Autumn Bailey and Caitlynn Frontz added one hit apiece. Scheafer added three RBIs with a home run while Ringler and Frontz added two RBIs apiece and Restille, Robertson and Bailey added one RBI apiece.

Hickey tossed yet another gem in the circle allowing just three hits and holding South Central scoreless. She had 11 strikeouts on the day.

Crestview moves to 12-1 on the season and is set to host Lucas today.

Lucas 4, East Knox 2

The Lucas Lady Cubs picked up an impressive win over East Knox on Wednesday 4-2.

Qynn Baker and Gabby Smith led the way for Lucas with two hits apiece while Frankie Depue, Brooke Niswander and Alexa Fulk added one hit apiece for Lucas. Depue and Smith added one RBI apiece in the win. 

Erica Westfield tossed a seven-inning gem allowing just two unearned runs on five hits while striking out eight.

The Lady Cubs improve to 8-4 on the year and hosts Northmor today.

Mount Vernon 17, Mansfield Senior 2

The Mansfield Senior Lady Tygers struggled offensively against Mount Vernon in a 17-2 loss.

Clear Fork's Carson Crowner bunts the ball while playing a home game against Ontario on Wednesday.

Baseball

Mount Vernon 10, Mansfield Senior 0

The Mansfield Senior Tygers struggled to get the bats started in their 10-0 loss to Mount Vernon.

The Tygers came away with just four hits, two by Noah Henley and one apiece by Zach Riley and Joshua Henley.

The Tygers fall to 1-11 and travel to Ashland today.

Warriors win 12th consecutive game beating Colts

West Holmes 4, Madison 1

The Madison Rams fell 4-1 to West Holmes in Ohio Cardinal Conference action on Wednesday. 

Madison had just four hits on the day, a double by Cal Rickert and three singles from Jaycob Stone, Shawn Roper and Hunter McKinney.

The Rams fall to 4-11 on the year and host West Holmes today.

 

North Union 2, Galion 1

The Galion Tigers dropped a tough, low-scoring contest to North Union on Wednesday 2-1.

Aaron Barnhart led the Tigers with two hits while Kaleb Harsh recorded the team's only RBI.

Harsh also went all seven innings on the mound recording four strikeouts in his effort.

The Tigers fall to 9-5 on the year and host Buckeye Valley today.

East Knox 6, Lucas 1

The Lucas Cubs struggled to find the bats in a 6-1 loss to East Knox on Wednesday.

Lucas managed just five hits one the day, one apiece from Jackson Hauger, Jeb Grover, Nate Smollen, Logan Niswander and Logan Knipp. Knipp added the lone RBI for the Cubs.

Lucas falls to 4-9 on the season.
