10 a.m. Update: Cincinnati Metro reports that the EZRide app glitch is fixed. If you need a refund, call customer relations at 513-632-7575 and they will review your ride history and provide a comparable ticket for a future fare.

Earlier report: Take the bus, they said, you'll save money.

Not today, it seems.

Some Cincinnati Metro riders were unable to purchase a "Metro 1-ride" ticket this morning and were forced to buy a more expensive ticket option or use cash to board the bus.

Sallie Hilvers, vice president of marketing and communications for Cincinnati Metro, said that the department is aware of the glitch and working with its app's vendor, Passport, to fix the problem quickly.

"This is probably something very small and contained," she said.

The Cincy EZride mobile app allows riders to buy and keep tickets on their phones, versus having to carry a paper pass or cash. The app usually has options to buy "Metro 1-ride," "Metro 1-Ride w/Transfer," "Metro 30-Day Pass," day passes or Cincinnati Bell Connector tickets. Today, however, the 1-ride fare, (i.e. the cheapest option), and the day pass were missing.

If you're riding the bus today, consider bringing cash or only buying one ticket until the bug is fixed.

Hilvers said that if a rider needs a refund to contact Customer Relations. Cincinnati Metro will check the rider's history and provide a comparable ticket to cover a future ride.
