8 Things To Do At Horseshoe Bay Resort

A couple of weekends ago, we did a staycation at Horseshoe Bay Resort – Texas’ original lakeside resort on Lake LBJ. Located in the picturesque Texas Hill Country wine and lake region, Horseshoe Bay Resort is just a short 45-minute trip from Austin, 90-minute trip from San Antonio, and a few hours drive from Dallas and Houston. This 7,000-acre, AAA Four Diamond-rated resort has three championship Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf courses, a newly opened Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, a par 72 Bermuda grass putting course, a full-service marina, a private airport, 14 tennis courts, bike rentals, hiking trails, spa and fitness centers, and 30 nearby wineries!

Horseshoe Bay Resort is investing $60 million in a property-wide renovation and new construction to include new guestrooms, golf facilities, dining experiences, meeting spaces, and more. Phase I was just completed with fully redesigned Palm Villas, the new Palm Pavilion, a new resort entryway off Texas State Highway 71, a remodeled fitness center and movement studio, refreshed golf facilities, and the new 360 Sports Club.

Horseshoe Bay Resort has 3 different room accommodations:

Hotel Tower – 249 hotel rooms and suites, some with spectacular views of Lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country. The oversized rooms have elegant décor, comfortable bedding, flat-screen televisions, high-speed Internet access and floor-to-ceiling windows. Access to restaurants, lounges, meeting rooms and amenities are steps away from the hotel.

Palm Villas – one, two and three bedroom villas are perfect for families, couples, golfers or small groups who are looking for a little more space than hotel accommodations. These vacation apartments feature moderately-equipped kitchens (two and three bedrooms only), high-speed Internet access and separate living areas. Most offer private balconies or patios. Pets welcome.

The Waters – With panoramic views of Lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country, The Waters at Horseshoe
Bay Resort offers luxury, comfort, and privacy for guests. Guests may choose from one, two and three

3. DINNER AT THE YACHT CLUB

There are 5 a la carte restaurants and lounges at Horseshoe Bay Resort: The Yacht Club, Lantana, Slick Rock Grill & Bar, Cap Rock Cabana, and Cafe Del Sol. The Yacht Club is the resort’s flagship restaurant that features a chef inspired menu of seafood, steak, and chef specialty dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We loved dining at the Yacht Club for its breathtaking view of Lake LBJ, and the chicken fried lobster and New York Strip were delicious!

Pro tip: Make an early dinner reservation so you can have a romantic sunset dinner on the outdoor patio with a view of the lake and Texas Hill Country!

Putt Putt at Whitewater Horseshoe Bay Resort

4. PLAY PUTT PUTT ON WHITEWATER COURSE

Horseshoe Bay Resort’s 18-hole, par-72 Whitewater putting course in one of only a handful real Bermuda grass putting courses in North America. We putted through the scenic landscape of waterfalls, rose gardens, exotic birds (that’s a flamingo behind me!), and trails.

If you’re a serious golfer who likes golf, you’re going to love Horseshoe Bay Resort’s three award-winning Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf courses (the only golf destination in the continental United States with three courses designed by master golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr.). Horseshoe Bay Resort was selected as one of “America’s Best Golf Resorts” by Golf Magazine.

Horseshoe Bay Sports Bar

5. COCKTAILS AT 360 SPORTS BAR

Watch the game at the brand new 360 Sports Bar while enjoying hand-crafted cocktails, cold bottled beers, and pizza selections. They make an incredible bloody mary!

Brunch in bed

7. BRUNCH IN BED FROM LANTANA

You can brunch downstairs at Lantana or call the restaurant and have the food delivered up to your room. We opted for the later so we could spend a little more time in those cozy bathrobes and go back to sleep afterwards.

Lantana serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a splash of Southwestern flair.

For breakfast, lunch or dinner, Lantana Restaurant entices visitors with relaxed, al fresco dining, a full bar, tropical decor, and a splash of Southwestern flair. We had the cedar plank salmon the night before and it was delicious!
