Walking’s healthy – we all know that.  But walking for a good cause is even better!

Sarah Bills McElfresh, a nurse practitioner with OrthoCincy, has been involved with the Arthritis Foundation in Cincinnati since her daughter, Ila, was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis as a toddler.

The staff at OrthoCincy has rallied in support by assembling teams to participate in the Arthritis Foundation's events each year.  At last year's Walk to Cure Arthritis in May, OrthoCincy fielded the largest team with 162 walkers.

Barb Precht, Executive Director of the area’s Arthritis Foundation, says support from OrthoCincy and its patients in the walk has had an impact. "OrthoCincy is really an important partner in helping us make a difference in the lives of people with arthritis, not just through our fundraising events but also with many of our other programs.  It's been huge to have their involvement," says Precht.

In 2017, for example, OrthoCincy CEO JoAnn Reis served as the 2017 corporate chair of the Walk to Cure Arthritis.  "Our organization really makes a point to support orthopaedic-related issues, such as arthritis, because orthopaedics is what we specialize in.  One way we can really help make a difference for our patients is to support organizations like the Arthritis Foundation," Reis says.

Again this year, Reis is serving as the Corporate Chair for the 2018 Walk to Cure Arthritis.  It’s held on Sunday, May 20th at Sawyer Point, and it’s free to register and walk!  We’re inviting you to be a part of the Walk as well – you can sign up for our team, “OrthoCincy Walks for Ila” here.

Join and walk with us as we fight to find a cure for arthritis!
