Watermark Risk Management International, a provider of innovative security and risk-management consulting services, is pleased to announce that it was named one of the Best Places to Work in the Washington, D.C. area for 2018 by the Washington Business Journal. Watermark was recognized for going above and beyond other regional employers to foster an enjoyable and meaningful work environment for employees, and for its commitment to diversity and discussion.

Watermark celebrates and welcomes differences including diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and work styles. Every employee has an important and relevant voice; opinions are absolutely required and a willingness to speak up and contribute is encouraged. Watermark is an EEO employer and strongly supports the hiring of military veterans.

“Watermark Risk Management International is more than a company; we are a team of skilled individuals who are united in our mission to serve our clients,” said Kevin Hodges, president of Watermark. “Everyone has the opportunity to make their mark — to grow, stretch, and flourish. We believe our diversity and team spirit enables us to formulate the most beneficial and innovative solutions for our clients.”

April Thornton, who joined Watermark in April 2017 as a technical editor, recently celebrated her one-year anniversary. “Like any new job, as the new kid on the block, I was nervous. While I was ready to take on a demanding role, I was afraid that my coworkers would not be receptive to having a new employee join the Watermark team,” commented Thornton. “Boy, was I wrong! When I came on board, everyone was welcoming. As months passed, I realized how fortunate I am to be a part of such a diverse group of individuals. Watermark is my second family. They are always there to celebrate my accomplishments and lend me encouraging words during moments of bereavement. There is no other place I would rather be.”

Companies selected for inclusion in the Washington Business Journal report are judged based on the results of an employee survey administered by Quantum Market Research. The survey evaluates a variety of criteria such as team dynamics and effectiveness, trust in leadership, work engagement, and alignment with company goals. Rankings of the 100 companies selected for the Best Places to Work in 2018 award will be presented at a reception held on May 17th at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland. Honorees will also be featured in a special supplement in the May 18 issue of the Washington Business Journal.
