Blink, and you'll miss it.

The home of your dreams could disappear from sight in a moment of hesitation in the Cincinnati-area's fast-selling housing market.

Last year, U.S. homes sold at the fastest pace on record, averaging 81 days on the market, according to a new report from Zillow, an online listing service and real estate tracker.

Cincinnati beat that time by a full week, with homes in the area sitting on the market for an average of 74 days, Zillow found.

The pace of sales is expected to pick up heading into the spring and summer selling season when children are out of school and many families begining their search for a new home.

Last summer, homes in the Cincinnati-area stayed on the market for just 68 days in July - the hottest-selling month of the season.

In some of the most coveted neighborhoods, homes are selling in a fraction of that time.

The hottest-selling neighborhoods have what most buyers are looking for: good schools, low crime and access to dining and entertainment.

They also tend to be the most affordable with most homes listed below $250,000 - typically the sweet spot for most home buyers.

But landing one of those homes has become a daunting task in a market where demand has dramatically outpaced supply.

Norwood real estate has become a hot-selling market due to the lack of inventory and higher prices in Hyde Park, Oakley and other nearby neighborhoods.
