Ridgewood Schools BOE Notes

WEST LAFAYETTE - The Ridgewood Local Schools Board of Education met in regular session on April 16 with a finance committee meeting just prior. Executive session was held to discuss security and facilities.

A presentation was given by Christopher McVay, an intervention specialist at Rigewood Elementary and a Beyond the Bell after-school program and seventh grade ELA teacher at Ridgewood Middle School. McVay recently received a Communication Fellows Program Award from Ohio University Scripps College of Communication and will use funding for a school newspaper and online blog. Frank Mathews was also recognized by the Ohio School Boards Association for 15 years as a board member.

Several local businesses and individuals made donations for the upcoming school trip to Washington D.C. Various volunteers for the trip were approved by the board. An overnight stay May 2 to 4 for the FFA State Convention was authorized. The school calendar for 2018 to 2019 was approved.

Paul Taylor has resigned as an elementary school custodian. Thad Youngen was approved as a track coach. Various supplemental contracts and volunteers for sports were approved.

Christy Nelson, Dawn Ellen Mathews and Steffinee Webb were approved as substitutes. Alissa Hardesty was approved as a bus driver. Rodney Merce was named an FFA volunteer. Administrative contracts were approved for Todd Stoffer for one year and for Matt Colvin for three years.

The next regular board meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 14 at the administrative building, 301 S. Oak St., West Lafayette.
