Police searching for 3 involved in carjacking in Southcrest

Police are searching for two women and a man who allegedly beat up an acquaintance and stole his car from San Diego’s Southcrest neighborhood on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old victim had agreed to meet up with a female acquaintance around 11:20 p.m., but when he picked her up, another woman and a man also got in the car with them, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The four people drove around for awhile before ending up in the south alley of the 3700 block of National Avenue.

Once in the alley, the three passengers demanded the driver’s wallet, according to Heims.

“He refused to give it to them, so they beat him up,” Heims said. “The victim was able to get out of the car. The suspects drove away with the victim’s light-gray, 2009 Toyota Camry.”

The victim sustained minor injuries in the carjacking, the officer said.

All three suspects were described as Hispanic adults. The man was described as roughly 5 feet 9 and skinny, with brown hair and brown eyes,wearing a baseball cap, gray hoodie and light blue pants. Both women were described as about 5 feet 4. One had a heavy build with long black hair and brown eyes, wearing a blue shirt and light-colored shorts. The other was skinny with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes.

Robbery detectives were investigating the carjacking and asked the public to be on the lookout for the stolen Camry with license plate 6FKH137.
