OHIO - A statewide outage has halted state testing in schools across Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Education was notified Wednesday morning by the state's testing vendor, American Institute of Research, of a problem with the login system for accessing tests, said ODE spokeswoman Brittany Halpin.

"AIR is actively working to resolve the issue and districts have been notified. Districts will again be notified when the assessments are available," Halpin said.

Madison superintendent Shelley Hilderbrand said the school district made sure it was prepared for this kind of issue, building in extra days in its testing schedule just in case any days of testing were interrupted and had to be rescheduled.

Hilderbrand said a couple of grade levels were scheduled to take the tests Wednesday, but they'll be rescheduled for a future date.

"You never know with technology, so you kind of got to be able to adjust," she said.
