Johnny Manziel shows some his skills of yore in pro football return

Johnny Football is back!

Former Heisman-winning QB Johnny Manziel warms up for his debut in The Spring League.

In February, former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round NFL draft pick Johnny Manziel joined The Spring League in hopes of resurrecting a pro football career that seemed over after the Cleveland Browns released him in early 2016.

On Saturday, Manziel made his pro football return, playing for the South team in The Spring League's opening weekend of play in Austin.

Manziel threw his first pro touchdown pass since December of 2015 (vs. the Seattle Seahawks in a 30-13 loss for the Browns), scrambling to his right to find receiver Antwan Goodley, who dove to complete the touchdown play.

Earlier, Manziel rolled out to connect on a long pass play to Goodley, who appears to have emerged as Manziel's go-to target.

Manziel also pulled off a quarterback keeper for a short gain.

Manziel recently participated in the pro days of the University of San Diego and Texas A&M. With his sights set on an NFL return, Manziel expressed interest in playing in the CFL as a possible pathway back.
