Wayne Bridge proved himself a master of the hard old game as he battered Spencer Matthews in a bruising charity boxing match.

The former England footballer and I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here contestant came up against the Made in Chelsea reality TV star for a fundraising showdown in aid of Sport Relief .

And Bridge, who has fought in White Collar Boxing bouts before, showed no mercy as he pummelled the 'dispenser' Matthews.

Nine years Matthews senior, 37-year-old Bridge unloaded a barrage of blows to rattle his opponent.

And as the fight continued Bridge gained the upper-hand and forced the referee to step in twice.

Double Olympic gold medallist Nicola Adams on commentary duties noted how Bridge's punches had significantly rattled the 28-year-old with his legs wobblying.

Matthews managed to stay up, however, and finish the contest.

But Bridge was the clear, unanimous victor as his hand was raised by the referee.

"The hard work paid off," beamed Bridge afterwards holding the Sport Relief belt before paying tribute to brave Matthews.

"Massive thanks to @Sammboxing for all his help along the way, my friends & family for all the support and massive respect to @SpencerMatthews for stepping in the ring for a great cause @sportrelief #celebrityboxing".

In the women's bout Sport presenter Helen Skelton beat Love Island's Camilla Thurlow.
