2020 QB receives dream offer from the Florida Gators

Head coach Dan Mullen is known for his development of quarterbacks and he hasn’t been shy with offering several quarterbacks since he arrived as coach of the Florida Gators.

On Monday, the Gators extended another quarterback offer this time to 2020 quarterback Michael Henderson (6-2, 220, Carrollton, TX. Ranchview) who spoke with one of the Gators recruiting staff members about the offer.

“Coach [Cordell] Landers offered me,” Henderson said of which coach offered him on Monday. “I was just talking to him on the phone and he said that he watched my film and that everybody liked it and that they wanted to get me down there. He said that they want me at quarterback so they were offering me.”

After speaking with Landers, the Gators assistant gave the phone to quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson to speak with Henderson.

“I spoke with Coach Johnson after I spoke with him,” he said on who else he spoke with. “He was just telling me that he was happy to offer me and he was hoping to get me on campus and get me on the team. He was heading into a meeting so we’re supposed to talk more.”

Henderson called the Florida offer a big one and despite being from Texas, the quarterback has watched Florida a lot.

“Florida, is like a dream school of mine,” Henderson said on what the offer means to him. “I just got my first offer from Oklahoma and they had asked me what other offers I wanted and I said Florida and Miami because those are my dream offers. So for Florida to come that fast was great, I was happy.”

The 2020 quarterback isn’t the only person in his household who likes the Gators as Henderson’s brother got him started on the Orange and Blue.

“I just grew up liking Florida,” he said on what Florida is a dream school. “They’re my older brother’s favorite college so I just kind of took in his foot steps. It’s a big offer.”

The Gators are now trying to set up a visit to get Henderson on campus and Florida likely won’t have to wait long to host the quarterback.

“Yeah, I’m going to go down there in the summer,” Henderson said on if he will visit Florida. “I just want to go down there and see everything and see their offense. I feel like their offense is very wide open.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Henderson admits that it’s very early in the recruiting process for him but he says he would like to make a decision before his senior year. Henderson is very open to a lot of schools but the Florida offer got his attention.
