Dororo
In collaboration with studio MAPPA and Tezuka Productions, Osamu Tezuka's four-volume manga will receive a new anime adaptation. The manga was serialized under Kodansha's Shounen Sunday magazine from August 1967 to July 1968. A full TV anime series helmed by director Gisaburou Sugii (Glass no Kamen) was broadcast in 1988 by Mushi Production, succeeding a 14-minute pilot film of the series. North American publisher Vertical Inc. published the manga in single and omnibus editions in 2008 and 2012, respectively. Discotek Media has released both the TV anime and special as a complete collection in 2016.

Synopsis
A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son's organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys the young hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan. (Source: Vertical Inc.)

I’ll probably be watching all of these 5 intriguing shows!
Currently keeping up with Karakuri Circus and the first episode sure delivered! I hope Dororo of Winter 2019 will be as good and so will all the other three.
Most intrigued for Vinland Saga obviously though!

Vinland Saga, for one thing, isn’t a shonen manga. It is strictly seinen. To be fair, I am not well read on any proper Norwegian history books, but this series is about the Vikings, set in Dane-controlled England’s and the rise of King of the North Sea Empire. So, I would say it is pretty historical friendly, What with the attention to detail. If it’s still not your thing, then I suppose that’s it.

So no relevance to Vinland, yet it's called Vinland Saga. (Vinland was the Norwegian/ Icelandic viking settlement in North America)

Saga = 'story of' or 'song of'
Sooo... "Story of Vinland", but actually about England? This is why I have low expectations with anything the Japanese do in fantasy/ sci-fant/ historical

Well, that’s okay then. Not all historical manga is terrible tho, I love the details in Otoyomegatari for one thing, and for Kingdom, the mangaka really did his research.

Edit: Although Vinland Saga isn’t about Vinland in the truest sense, the author does seem to talk about the North Sea Empire which did truly exist. And follows the actual history behind it. So, no, it’s not about “Vinland”, but it’s also about actual history.
Additionally, you can’t really expect perfect history from any form of fictional media. For freaking sake, Memoirs of a Geisha which is applauded to be a great historical fiction is not true to its source at all. If one wants true history, read the biographies of history instead. (Which I actually do). In any other case, it’s nice to read historical fiction as it does highlight a historical event, which otherwise can be hidden. Sarah’s Key, for example, actually educated me about the roundup of Jews in Paris.

As an actual Norwegian I've been avoiding Vinland Saga because I don't trust it to be even remotely "history friendly". I don't really mind artistic license, but Japan tends to take it so far off the map that their biggest fans are the Romulans.

TL;DR is it going to have any actual relevance to Vinland or is it just the first vaguely viking word the creator thought of when slapping together a (hopefully not) generic shounen? Is it shounen?

have you read the books? its the one out of the handful they announced that we know the least about (next to pet)

No but it's a convoluted psychological series delving into suicide, particularly euthanasia.

sounds really interesting then! this whole series of announcements puts twin engine high up my list. it has potential to be a groundbreaking studio if they deliver on these projects!

so whats the history on this studio they seem pretty new not to mention tackling a lot of apparently big stuff , interested in this vinland saga must of been living under the manga reading rock because i've never heard of it till these reveals ,will check it out at some point since it wont be a while till it airs

They may be new as a company but are experienced as individuals in the business world. The company director brought people as ambitious and experienced as him to work there.

His goal is to change the way anime is done so that it is no longer a scourge to creators. He thinks of creators above all else.
