Lancaster HS FFA

Jordan Ash, junior at Lancaster High School, competed in the FFA State Prepared Public Speaking, placing 4th in the state on March 3. His speech was titled “Better for the Banner,” about the changes in goat genetics in relations to show industry. Ash also competed in the Fairfield County competition, placing 2nd and in the districts, placing 2nd moving him to states.

The Lancaster Agriculture Business class, part of the Lancaster FFA, sold roses on Valentine's Day for the second year in a row. Seniors organized this fundraiser; from setting the prices, ordering supplies and taking orders. Lancaster FFA sold over 100 orders.

St. Bernadette Catholic

LANCASTER - St. Bernadette Catholic School had another successful Book Fair and STEM Program on March 12 during school. The Scholastic Book Fair's theme was "Paws for Books." Dr. Robert Guinan, from the Morris Animal Clinic and Dr. Jennifer Morrow, from the Lancaster Animal Clinic, visited and presented info to the students. Mr. Nicholas Hafford, a dog trainer with Cap City Canines, also met with the children.

Students also worked on Dog Bite Safety, took a virtual tour of the NY Humane Society, took measurements of their stuffed animal pets and watched the AVMA's video on veterinary jobs opportunities.

Bloom-Carroll

PICKERINGTON - Barnes and Noble announced Mrs. Brenda Cole, algebra teacher from Bloom Carroll High School, as the winner of their annual My Favorite Teacher Contest. Bloom Carroll senior, Kylee Cozier nominated Mrs. Cole.

Barnes and Noble received applicants from private and public schools in Pickerington, Reynoldsburg and Carroll. There will be an awards ceremony on April 12 at 6 p.m. at the Pickerington store.
