Dozen arrested in suspected animal sacrifice in Texas

"There was heads of what looked like goats and animals dead and live inside," one deputy said.

At least a dozen people in San Antonio, Texas, were arrested Friday night after neighbors said they sacrificed several animals in a garage using knives.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home after neighbors notified authorities about 7 p.m. that the people inside were sacrificing animals. Deputies found about 12-14 people inside the garage along with dead chickens, goats, and other animals.

Sgt. Elizabeth Gonzalez said one individual was seen cutting up an animal.

"It appeared that they were having some sort of ritual," Gonzalez said. "One of the other persons was holding up a chicken and draining blood into a container. There was containers there. There was heads of what looked like goats and animals dead and alive inside."

Deputies said 12-14 people were arrested and now face animal cruelty charges.
