YAKIMA — The Mountlake Terrace boys basketball team couldn’t hold an early lead, and the Hawks fell to Liberty 64-48 on Wednesday in a 2A Hardwood Classic opening-round game at the Yakima SunDome.
The Hawks’ season ended with the loss.
Mountlake Terrace led 26-18 after the first quarter and 37-34 at halftime, but the Patriots outscored the Hawks 30-11 in the second half. Mountlake Terrace shot just 23.8 percent in the final two quarters.
Brendan Hayes had 16 points and seven rebounds, and Khyree Armstead tallied 15 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks.
