River View's Fischer finishes 14th

CANTON - River View senior Caleb Fischer capped his high school swimming career on Friday.

Fischer finished 14th overall after posting a time of 1:00.14 in the B - Final at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.

He had the 15th-fastest time (1:00.09) in Thursday's preliminaries, as he was the first Black Bear to reach the state swimming meet since Coleston Pope did so in 2013.

Bowling Green's C.J. Layne won the state title in :55.83.

The prelims featured 24 swimmers with 16 advancing to Friday's finals. The top 14 prelim times in the event were below 1 minute.

The top eight swimmers make the podium to earn All-Ohio honors.
