What to watch on the final day of the Winter Olympics

Germany's Matthias Plachta celebrates scoring a goal against Canada.

The 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics come to a close Sunday, wrapping up an unforgettable Winter Games.

Still, there's plenty of action to watch before the closing ceremony:

Hockey

11:10 p.m. ET

A surprising German team will play Russia for gold. Germany upset Canada 4-3 after failing to qualify for the tournament in Sochi four years ago. The last time Germany won an Olympic medal was 1976 when they took bronze. Russia is led by goaltender Vasily Koshechkin, who stopped 31 shots in a 3-0 victory against the Czech Republic in the semifinals.

Cross country skiing

1:15 a.m. ET

Norway’s Marit Bjoergen is expected to be in the field for the women’s 30K mass start. She’s the most decorated Winter Olympian in history with 14 medals after claiming bronze in the team sprint Wednesday. The 37-year-old says this is her final Games. “Four (more) years is too many. I (will be) 42,” she said after the team sprint.

Curling

7 p.m. ET

The upstart South Korean women’s curling team will play Sweden for gold after beating Japan 8-7 in the semifinals. If the Koreans prevail, it will be their first gold in women’s curling. Sweden seeks its third gold medal in the event.

Bobsled

11:15 p.m. ET (final run)

German sleds are first and third after two runs of men’s four-man bobsled. Francesco Friedrich is in the German sled that’s currently in first place. Nice Walther is the pilot for the third-placed German sled, and one of his brakeman is Kevin Kuske. The 39-year-old Kuske seeks a record fifth Olympic gold medal.

Closing ceremony

6 a.m. ET on Sunday

Goodbye, Pyeongchang. Hello, Tokyo, host of the Summer Games in 2020. The next Winter Games will return to Asia as Beijing hosts in 2022. For the closing party in Pyeongchang, Olympic gold medalist Jessie Diggins has been elected flagbearer for the United States. She’s the first American cross country skier to receive the honor.
