John Calipari responds to Yahoo story implicating current, former Kentucky players

Kentucky coach John Calipari issued a statement on Friday denying any wrongdoing in response to new documents -- obtained and revealed by Yahoo! Sports -- that connected former player Bam Adebayo and current player Kevin Knox to the FBI's ongoing investigation into illegal benefits.

Kentucky coach John Calipari looks on during the second half of his team's game against Texas A&M.

Adebayo was listed on a 2015 balance sheet of former NBA agent Andy Miller as receiving a five-figure loan, while Knox was listed as having met with Miller's associate, Christian Dawkins.

"I have no relationship with Andy Miller or any of his associates," Calipari said in the statement issued by the school. "Neither my staff nor I utilized any agent, including Andy Miller, or any of his associates, to provide any financial benefits to a current or former Kentucky student-athlete. We will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities."

Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart also issued a statement that read: "We are aware of the report today by Yahoo! Sports. We have not been contacted by the FBI or NCAA, but since learning of the report, we have reached out to both the NCAA and our league office. We will be conducting an internal review."

In the Yahoo Sports report published Friday morning, the players — or, in some cases, their family members — are listed as receiving impermissible benefits ranging from a $70 lunch to more than $40,000 in loans.
