MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Julia Strand scored a game-high 18 points to lead Shorecrest to a 58-36 Class 3A District 1 Tournament semifinal win over Lynnwood at Mountlake Terrace High School.
The win clinched a state tournament berth for the Scots, who are back in state for the first time since they won it all in 2016.
Shorecrest (16-6) will play Stanwood for a district title at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jackson High School.
Shorecrest and Lynnwood were tied at 13 after the first quarter, but the Scots outscored the Royals 34-15 during the next two quarters.
Amanda Lee scored 15 points, all of which came on 3-pointers, and Audrey Dietz chipped in nine points.
The Royals (13-10), who upset Edmonds-Woodway in the quarterfinals to reach the semis, were led by Amayah Kirkman’s 12 points.
Lynnwood next will face Arlington in an elimination game at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Mountlake Terrace High School.
Mariner 48, Kamiak 46
EVERETT — Mariner and Kamiak’s girls basketball teams split the first two meetings between the Mukilteo School District rivals during the regular season in a pair of one-possession games.
That trend extended to the playoffs, as the Marauders nearly ceded a 10-point lead in the final period, holding on to beat the Knights at Everett Community College to extend their season and end that of their rival.
“We started the game off with some really intense defense, and we were playing to win in the first three quarters,” Mariner coach Corey Gibb said. “We got a little tight in the fourth, made some ill-advised passes and took some ill-advised shots. We did everything we could do just to hang on.”
Gibb said Kamiak (11-11) got a look at a potential game-tying bucket with 10 seconds left, but it fell short. Mariner’s Hannah Hezekiah grabbed the rebound and dribbled out the remaining three seconds.
Mariner (14-9) advanced to play the winner of Tuesday’s loser-out contest between Jackson and Monroe on Thursday in another elimination game.
Jackson 60, Monroe 49
EVERETT — The Timberwolves (12-10) advanced to an elimination game Thursday against Mariner. Monroe’s season ends at 9-14.
Edmonds-Woodway 69, Ferndale 59
EDMONDS — Adrienne Poling scored 26 points, including four first-half 3-pointers, and Ingrid Fosberg added 17 as Edmonds-Woodway bounced back from its first-round loss to knock off visiting Ferndale 69-59 in a loser-out District 1 3A tournament game.
The Warriors (19-3) hit nine 3s as a team in the opening half and move on to face Snohomish in a loser-out game Thursday between the Nos. 1 and 2 finishers in Wesco 3A during the regular season.
Kim Weden led Ferndale (13-9) with 12 points.
Arlington 55, Meadowdale 25
ARLINGTON — Sierra Scheppele netted a game-high 15 points and Arlington (13-9) put the game away with 23-point third quarter in a loser-out game.
“(We) decided to become more aggressive offensively and started driving and getting open 3s and shots started falling,” Arlington assistant coach Lauryn Perrigo said.
Eight other players scored for the Eagles, who advance to face Lynnwood in a loser-out game Friday at Mountlake Terrace High School.
Alicia Morrison’s 10 points led the Mavericks (9-14).

Jackson 52, Cascade 39
EVERETT — The Timberwolves (15-8) advance to play Monroe in an elimination game Thursday. The Bruins’ season ends at 6-16.
Monroe 71, Lake Stevens 47
EVERETT — Monroe’s defense buckled down and gave up just 25 points in the final three quarters after allowing 22 points in the first on its way to a 71-47 victory over Lake Stevens in a loser-out District 1 4a tournament game at Everett Community College.
Colby Kyle led the Bearcats (17-5) with 25 points and Isaiah Cole chipped in 17 as Monroe advanced to play Jackson in a loser-out game Thursday at EvCC.
Ryder Kavanagh scored 22 points to pace the Vikings (9-13).
