A deputy was injured and four drug arrests were made following a traffic stop in Graves County Saturday.

According to Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon, a detective stopped a vehicle on Paris Road. The driver of the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Huddle House and the four occupants reportedly began hiding items inside the car. After a search of the occupants and the vehicle, all four men were arrested on various charges.

Twenty-year-old Shatiran Noonan was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana and various other traffic offenses. Twenty-year-old Gabriel Vejar was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Twenty-three-year-old Jalon Johnson was charged with possession of synthetic drugs, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia and 19-year-old Martavous Noonan was charged with giving an officer a false name, public intoxication and possession of marijuana.

All four were lodged in the Graves County Jail.

While officers were collecting evidence and conducting interviews, several people walked up to the scene, including two female juveniles, who were family members of one of the men arrested. The juveniles became disorderly and refused officers request to disperse. The two juveniles were taken into custody.

Police said while being arrested, both juveniles resisted and one of them assaulted a deputy, causing hand and leg injuries. After the juveniles were placed into cruisers, they reportedly began kicking doors and continued to be disorderly. One of the officers opened the door of his cruiser to calm one of the juveniles down and she attempted to exit the vehicle to escape.

The juvenile that assaulted the deputy was transported to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with 3rd degree assault, attempted escape, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The other juvenile was released to a parent after being charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and menacing.

Deputy Brooke Nelms went to Jackson Purchase Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
