Four points shy of 1,000 for her career on Tuesday, it wasn't a question whether Oak Harbor junior Logan Harris would reach the milestone.

The only uncertainty was how early the points would come. Harris dropped in an offensive rebound for a four-point lead late in the first quarter in a 55-43 victory over Vermilion in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division.

"I knew how close I was," she said. "I wasn't worried about it. I just went and played. It makes putting all the extra time in worth it. A lot of it is assists from teammates so it's nice to share it with them."

Harris scored 26 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter. She had nine points, including a 3-pointer during a 14-0 run that established a 55-36 lead.

Sophia Eli scored 18 points for Oak Harbor (12-3, 6-2).

"Vermilion played good basketball," said Rockets coach Tom Kontak, who earned his 200th career victory Tuesday. "The kids were excited for Logan's 1,000th point on the home floor. We had to settle ourselves down a bit."

Oak Harbor's Logan Harris reached 1,000 points as a junior Tuesday.

Harris looks up to former teammate Andrea Cecil, who plays at Bowling Green State University, as a role model.

Her dad, Jack, and brother, Matt, have also been major influences.

"He's been pushing me since I can't remember, honestly," Harris said. "We work all the time in the gym."

Harris scored 28 points in a victory over Toledo Rogers in the district semifinals as a sophomore.

"That's the best game I've played in," she said. "The atmosphere was crazy. I can't describe it."

Harris' production carried over as she's averaging 20.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

"I"m getting more aggressive," she said. "My freshman year it was Andrea and she'd kick it to me on the block and I'd have to finish. Without Maddy (Rathbun) I have more responsibilities scoring and rebounding. I have to step up more and more."
