Ross High Schools locks down Monday over threat of weapon on campus.

FREMONT - Ross High School was locked down for more than three hours Monday after a student tipped off faculty of a possible weapon being inside the school.

Fremont City Schools Superintendent Jon Detwiler told The News-Messenger Monday that police conducted an investigation but did not find a weapon on school grounds.

"About 9 a.m., police were called to the high school for the rumor about a weapon and we had the school in a lockdown," Detwiler said. "There was nothing found, and that's a good thing."

Detwiler said the lockdown was lifted at 12:29 p.m.,

Detwiler said some students were being questioned over the incident, but he is unsure if any charges were pending against students. He said students could face discipline from the school following the Fremont police investigation.

Fremont Police Chief Dean Bliss said detectives were questioning students, adding that police always take rumors of weapons at schools seriously.

"We always take it seriously no matter what," Bliss said. "We are still looking into it and I am not sure if there will be any charges."
