Sec. Zinke Will Spend The Government Shutdown Ensuring The WWII Memorial, National Parks, Stay Open

DC: The government might be shut down Saturday morning, but that did not stop Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke from doing his job.

Early in the morning, Zinke could be found cleaning up trash on the National Mall and welcoming tours of schoolchildren to the World War II memorial with a smile.

“We’re not putting up barricades,” Zinke told The Daily Caller in an interview. “Absolutely not. We’re passing out brochures until we run out of brochures. I’ll be out here everyday.”

Zinke, and much of the federal government, has had the vast majority of staff furloughed due to the government shutdown.

The shutdown happened on Friday when Democrats refused to vote for a GOP budget bill that kept the government funded. A shutdown means all “non-essential” government workers get furloughed and the rest go without pay until Congress can pass a funding bill.

The last government shutdown was in 2013 under the Obama administration. For that shutdown, the Department of Interior made the controversial decision to close public parks, monuments and battlefields.

The decision led to some comical and ultimately sad stories of children having their D.C. school trips canceled and veterans not being able to visit monuments built in their honor.

  1. WINNING. President Trump is amazing and he will shine through every piece of 💩 the left tosses at him.

The MSM and aristocratic commie democRATS don’t have a chance.

I love how President Trump TRUMPS every step the left takes. He allows them to not only set the traps, but step in them and thrash about, until they have to slink away after chewing their way free.

  2. Standing ovation for Sec’t Zinke! True patriot. BTW – didn’t some conservative Congressmen come over to the WWII Memorial during the last during the last shutdown and tear down the barricades? Or am I hallucinating?

  3. @jimbo.
The people rose up and tore those barricades down. First at WWII, then Vietnam and then Lincoln Memorial.
Ted Cruz, mike Lee and Sarah Palin showed up later.
It was a really great day of defiance and I’m really glad I went. I remember that Park Police would try to replace the barricades and people went right behind them, pick them up walk them away and throw them as far as they could.

  4. PHenry – thanx for confirming my memory of sorts. Had I been in the DC area, I would have joined you all and helped pitch those damned barricades as far as we could throw them. Had to have been an amazing time!

  5. Kudos to OUR President Trump and Secretary Zinke!!

What the Kenyan-born obama did in 2014 was despicable. DESPICABLE. All it did was laser-focus America’s attention to the fact that the Democrat Party would do anything, say anything to win their stupid little pissing contest against real AMERICANS.
