Woman killed in crash on Brockton-Avon line
A woman was killed when she crashed into a utility pole at the Brockton-Avon line Thursday morning, officials said.
Police and firefighters responded to the area of North Montello and Wilder streets about 9:34 a.m. for a report of a crash. Police were told the victim was unconscious and trapped in her vehicle, the Enterprise reported.
When officials arrived, they found the vehicle, a black sedan, with extensive front-end damage, resting in the road a few feet away from the pole. The front windshield was smashed and the air bags had been deployed.
Firefighters found the female driver to be unconscious and immediately began CPR after removing her from the vehicle.
A Brockton police officer on scene said the crash was possibly fatal. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, but was later canceled.
Officials have confirmed to The Enterprise that the crash is fatal.
State Police investigators are responding to the scene.
The crash is the second serious one on that street this week.
On Tuesday evening, a driver struck several cars at Avon Auto Brokers, which is a quarter-mile north of Thursday’s scene, at 107 Memorial Drive.
