Friday’s prep basketball scores, recaps

The Everett boys and Kamiak girls picked up key victories.

Some teams in the middle of the Wesco basketball standings picked up key wins Friday.

On the boys side, Everett defeated Arlington 62-46 to pull its Wesco 3A record to 3-3, one-half game behind the Eagles for fifth place.

In girls action, Kamiak edged Jackson 52-48 to tighten the Wesco 4A standings. The Knights are now in a three-way tied for third place with Mariner and the Timberwolves.

A milestone occurred in the Cascade Christian (Bothell) boys’ 60-57 overtime win over King’s, as Eagles guard George Reidy crossed the 1,000-point threshold for his career with his 26-point outing.

Everett 62, Arlington 46

Everett’s Wes Erickson scored 19 points and the Seagulls used a 21-4 second quarter to beat visiting Arlington.

Andrew Olson and Gabe Waddle combined to score 13 points in the second to key Everett’s run. Seagulls head coach Bryce Levin lauded Javon Wilson for his defensive effort and keeping the offense running smoothly for Everett (6-8 overall, 3-3 Wesco 3A).

Jaren Carey finished with 18 points for the Eagles (9-5, 3-2).

Edmonds-Woodway 74, Snohomish 49

Noah Becker scored 22 points to lead four Edmonds-Woodway players in double figures as the Warriors earned a road win over Snohomish.

Michael Epoch added 15 and Chinedu Acholonu finished with 12 for Edmonds-Woodway (8-6 overall, 3-3 Wesco 3A).

Luis Balcarcel led the Panthers (4-9, 2-4) with 14 points.

Mountlake Terrace 65, Meadowdale 50

Mountlake Terrace found its rhythm from behind the arc in a Wesco 3A win over visiting Meadowdale on Friday.

The Hawks made 12 3-pointers, with senior forward Brendan Hayes knocking down five en route to a 22-point performance.

Mustapha Sonko led the Mavericks (6-7 overall, 2-3 league) with 10 points.

Mountlake Terrace (12-1, 5-1) has won seven straight games.

Shorecrest 67, Oak Harbor 44

Shorecrest dominated the first half, outscoring Oak Harbor 45-13, on its way to a fifth straight victory with a road victory over the Wildcats.

Philip Pepple led a trio of Scots (11-2 overall, 6-0 Wesco 3A) with 16 points, Antonio Stillwell added 12 and Eladio Fountain 10 as Shorecrest stayed unbeaten in Wesco 3A play.

Haven Brown led Oak Harbor (3-11, 1-5) with 15 points.

Stanwood 64, Lynnwood 55

Stanwood’s Mitch Jones scored 17 points and Matt Vail added 16 as the Spartans topped host Lynnwood.

Alex Macias had 18 points and Josh Siscar finished with 17 for the Royals (6-8 overall, 2-4 Wesco 3A).

Stanwood (9-5, 5-1) has won four straight and six of its last seven contests.

South Whidbey 67, Sultan 56

Lewis Pope scored 27 points and Kody Newman 21 to lead South Whidbey past visiting Sultan for a victory in Cascade Conference play.

The win is the seventh in the past eight games for the Falcons (12-4 overall, 6-1 conference).

Elias Lopez led the Turks (2-11, 1-6) with 17 points, hitting four 3-pointers.

Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) 60, King’s 57 (OT)

George Reidy notched 26 points for Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) in its overtime win over host King’s.

Reidy, a senior, eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

The Eagles moved to 7-8 (3-4 Cascade Conference) with the win.

Elyon Zevenbergen led King’s (4-3, 6-7) with 13 points.

Lakewood 67, Nooksack Valley 58

Lakewood used a balanced offense and strong defense in the second and third quarters to emerge with a win over host Nooksack Valley.

The Cougars (9-4 overall, 4-2 Northwest Conference) outscored the Pioneers (7-6, 2-4) 43-23 in the two periods surrounding halftime.

Alex Coleman led Lakewood with 14 points, Kaleb Duitsman scored 13 and Alex Jensen added 12.

Brevin Ross netted 18 points to help Darrington to its first conference victory of the season against visiting Concrete.

Monique Fierke led Monroe (5-8 overall, 2-5 Wesco 4A) with 19 points.

Katie Valenzuela had a team-high nine points for Cascade (1-12, 0-7).

Glacier Peak 72, Mariner 44

Alexyss Newman scored 27 points, and Glacier Peak built a 22-point lead in the first half on its way to a road win over Mariner in Wesco 4A play.

Abbie Juozapaitis added 16 points and Aaliyah Collins 10 for the Grizzlies (8-5 overall, 6-1 Wesco 4A).

Hannah Hezekiah led the Marauders (9-4, 4-3) with 20 points and Taliyah Clark chipped in with 15.

Kamiak 52, Jackson 48

Kamiak’s Hunter Beirne sank two free throws with four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter after Jackson’s Breonna Williams hit a baseline jumper to tie the game at 48-48 to lead the Knights to their fifth straight win over the host Timberwolves.

Beirne and Alex Gallaher led the Knights (7-6 overall, 4-3 Wesco 4A) with 11 points and Ashley Gray chipped in with 10.

Olivia Skiebel led Jackson (6-6, 4-3) with 18 points and Megan Mattison added 13.

Kate Pohland’s 17 points led Everett.

Madison Chisman scored 22 points, Kaitlin Larson 18 and Ashley Alter 17 to lead Stanwood to a 23-point victory over visiting Lynnwood in Wesco 3A action.

Jillian Heichel chipped in with 12 points for the Spartans (9-4 overall, 5-1 Wesco 3A), who had four players in double figures and outscored the Royals (6-7, 2-3) 48-28 in the first half.

Nakia Boston netted a game-high 23 points for Lynnwood.

Nohea Morrison and Jasmine Zenk each scored nine points for the Hawks (2-11, 1-4).

Shorecrest outscored Oak Harbor 15-3 in the first quarter en route to a Wesco 3A win over host Oak Harbor.

The Scots (11-3 overall, 6-0 conference) remained tied for first place in Wesco 3A.

Two late buckets by Rachel Phelan gave King’s just enough cushion to hold off Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) in a taut Cascade Conference matchup.

The Eagles’ Irena Korolenko led all scorers with 17 points, but Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) fell to 7-7 (3-4 conference) with the loss.

Mia Flor scored 10 points to lead the Knights (8-5, 5-2) and Phelan finished with seven.

Archbishop Murphy’s Megan Dorney and Emily Rodabaugh each scored 14 points as the Wildcats extended their perfect season with a win over host Cedarcrest.
