IMPD: Woman arrested in north-side shooting

Update Jan. 18, 2018: 

Monica Hampton, 33, was released from Marion County Jail on Wednesday. The homicide case remains under investigation, according to a Marion County prosecutor's office spokesman, but Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department records indicate it's now a self-defense case. 

Update Jan. 11, 2018: 

Monica Hampton, 33, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Jermaine Taylor.

She's being held in jail on a preliminary charge of murder. The Marion County prosecutor's office has not formally charged Hampton. 

Hampton came to IMPD on her own, according to a department news release, and met with homicide detectives.

She was arrested Thursday, online jail records say.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community's help in finding a woman they say is wanted for questioning in connection with a Wednesday morning shooting. 

Police say 33-year-old Monica Hampton is wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that took place around 8 a.m., just blocks from the Indianapolis Children's Museum. 

Officers were called to the 2900 block of North Delaware Street on reports of a disturbance, according to a news release. On scene, police found 37-year-old Jermaine Ivory Taylor in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospital. 

Police are also searching for a grey 2008 Nissan Altima in connection with the shooting. No other additional information was available regarding the vehicle.
