Update on cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital
*****************************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following update today (December 26) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a male surgical ward:

The laboratory test sample of another 58-year-old male patient of the ward is confirmed to have MDRA, but he had no clinical symptoms of infection. He passed away earlier due to his own underlying illness.

QEH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
