Dec 10, 2017; Tampa, FL, USA; Lions cornerback Darius Slay recovers a fumble against the Buccaneers in the first half at Raymond James Stadium.

Darius Slay should be heading to his first Pro Bowl. For Matthew Stafford and Glover Quin, it's wait and see.

Slay finished fourth among cornerbacks in the final fan Pro Bowl vote that was announced Saturday, and second among NFC cornerbacks behind Minnesota's Xavier Rhodes.

Pro Bowl rosters will be announced in Tuesday, when player and coach ballots are added to the fan vote. Four cornerbacks will represent each conference in Orlando.

Detroit Lions need to ride Matthew Stafford's arm, bag running game

Slay is tied for the NFC lead with five interceptions and said last week he felt he was deserving of his first Pro Bowl.

"It’s good they noticing," he said. "I’ve been balling. I’ve been working, I’ve been grinding, I’ve been competing every play against your best and that is what it is."

Slay is one of just four Lions to appear in the top 10 at their position in the final fan ballot.

Matt Prater finished eighth among kickers (and fifth in the NFC), Jamal Agnew finished fourth among return specialists (third in the NFC) and T.J. Lang finished eighth among guards (fifth in the NFC).

Neither quarterback Matthew Stafford nor safety Glover Quin, arguably the Lions' offensive and defensive MVPs this season, finished in the top 10 in fan voting.

Quin said last week that he wasn't surprised he wasn't generating a lot of support among fans.

"I was 10th in fan voting when I made it (in 2014)," Quin said. "The fans have never, at least nationally, have never voted for me, But like I said, the markets that I have played in, I still get love from the Houston fans and I've been gone there for five years. I get a lot of love from the Detroit fans. So the places that I play, they understand who I am and how I play. It is what it is."

Quin said he still hopes to earn a Pro Bowl nod through peer voting.

"The Pro Bowl is cool," he said. "And if you can make it, you definitely want to make it. I look at the Pro Bowl more as a respect from players and coaches because – the thing about the fan stuff that intrigues me is you can have a player that comes from a huge football market and they make.

"Just think about this right here, and nothing against this player, but I think (Seattle's) Kam Chancellor was leading it for strong safeties. He’s been out. he hasn’t even hardly played all year. Kam Chancellor? I mean, he’s a good football player but he didn’t have a Pro Bowl year, but he’s leading fan votes."

Chancellor, who's missed four straight games with a neck injury, finished as the leading vote-getter among strong safeties.
