TOP UK road and time trialist Si Wilson presented prizes to his former cycling club Worcester St John’s at their presentation evening.

Members have been basking in success after a thrilling year with records broken and new best times set.

Club numbers have grown and more weekly social rides have been created to cope with demand.

The weekly Tuesday evening time trials are more popular than ever.

Wilson, who has an impressive list of titles including national masters individual pursuits champion and team time trial champion, was introduced by club chairman Ed Dursley.

“It was great to come back and see how my old club has grown. It certainly gave me the encouragement to forge ahead in my cycling career,” said Wilson.

The club Cyclo Cross Trophy was awarded to Richard Graham for having the most points in the West Midlands League.

Adrian Bird won the Cattlow Trophy for most men’s road race points while the Fagan Cup for the women's equivalent went to Andrea Turner who also set a new female 12-hour record earlier in the year.

Winners of the open time trials included the Bob Short Cup for the fastest 10-mile effort to Paul Guest with 20 minutes two seconds.

Simon Garrett claimed the F Wilkes Cup for the fastest 25 in 52.53, the Frost Cup for the fastest 50 in 1.53.5 and the Beauchamp Cup for veterans' 50-25-10 on standard.

The Fildes Cup, which had not been awarded since 2010, went to Mark Corbett who created a new club record for the best 12-hour distance in 262.64 miles.

For St John's time trials, the Harvey Cup for most points for men went to the successful Garrett with a maximum possible score of 750.

He also won the Kinnersley Cup for fastest on the Kinnersley circuit, the D&G Hughes Cup for quickest on the Hilly 14 and the Underwood Cup for the best 25.

The Mike Dinley Bowl for most points for women went to Turner with the equivalents going to James Davidson with the Chesterfield Cup for juniors and Dylan Perkins with the Juvenile Cup for under 16s.

For road bikes, the Badgery Bowl for most points for men went to Stuart Parker and the Chesterfield Cup for the women's equivalent was won by Sam Clarke.

The Fixed Wheel Cup for the best five events went to Guest while the Dickenson Cup for junior BAR (club 5, 10, 20 and 25) was secured by James Davidson.

The Juvenile Shield for U16 BAR (club 10, 10, 10) went to Cameron Davidson.

Phil Whiteley lifted the Brittlebank Cup for the fastest hill climb and the Heron Shield for the quickest 10 on low gears went to Martin Lines.

Corbett collected the Farmer Cup for the best 20.

The Brittlebank Bowl for the fastest handicapped 25 was won by Dave Walker with the equivalents going to Parker with the Byrd Cup for 20 and Chris Pettifer with the James Cup for 10.

The Dinley Cup for the fastest scratch rider in the James Cup Handicap was claimed by Jason Milner.

Medals were presented to riders who beat the standard time on three occasions in club time trials.

In the 70-plus age group, Derek Morgan had bronze, silver and gold.

Simon Adcook had gold while Parker and Andrew Russell gained bronze and silver in the 40-plus age group.

The senior category saw Pettifer awarded bronze and Turner bronze, silver and gold.

In the under 16 age band, Perkins was given bronze.

Various club records were set during the season and certificates handed out.

Club member Rick Allen organised the dinner and presentation which was attended by more than 60 people at the WAC Motorcycle Club headquarters in Perdiswell.
