WWE star arrested on battery, false imprisonment charges in Florida
A professional wrestler was arrested in Florida Sunday on charges of battery and false imprisonment.
Rich Swann, 26, is a WWE star who is listed on the organization's website as a top competitor in the Cruiserweight Division.
Police said Swann stopped his car in traffic and started chasing a woman who had gotten out of the vehicle. A witness told police that Swann and the woman had jumped out of the car while it was moving. The witness said the car wasn’t in park and rolled until it hit a telephone pole.
According to an arrest affidavit, Swann chased after the woman, grabbed her by the arm, put his hand around her neck and dragged her back to the car.
One witness told police the victim was beating on the window and screaming for help as Swann drove away, according to the affidavit.
The incident happened after Swann made an appearance at a bar Saturday night in downtown Gainesville.
Swann denied grabbing the victim and said she got back into the car on her own, the affidavit said.
