Samsung Is Updating Galaxy A5 (2016) With December Security Patch

With the recent release of the December security update for the Pixel and Nexus devices, several other manufacturers are updating their devices with the new security patch. We saw Essential update the PH-1 yesterday with the December patch and now it is Samsung which is updating its yesteryear Galaxy A5.

The Korean company is currently rolling out the December 1 security update to A5 owners in Netherlands. The update rollout should commence in other countries in the coming days. If you own an A5, you can expect a 196MB update notification to show up soon.

The update will bump up the build number to A510FXXU4CQL1. There is also a fix for improving the "charging stability". Although it isn't clear what Samsung means by "charging stability", I'm guessing improvements to the charging rate. Galaxy Club reports that since the October security update, Galaxy A5 owners are facing problems in connecting to WiFi networks. The update changelog doesn't mention anything else beside the December security patch, improvements to charging stability and performance enhancements; so the WiFi problem may persist until Samsung rolls out another update fixing it.
