A cow with a deep gash to her side was reported to the RESQ Charitable Trust (RESQCT) webline. As always, this compassionate team didn’t waste any time getting to the location. Once they arrived, the cow was very nervous but with a little kindness and a gentle touch, she seemed to understand that they were there to help.

It wasn’t long before they realized not only was the cow suffering from the large wound on her side but she also had severely swollen mammary glands. This poor girl had a calf! The RESQ team searched for the missing calf with no luck. They were forced to take the mother, now named Maggie, to the rescue facility without her baby.

The team cleaned, sutured, and treated Maggie’s wounds but it was clear to everyone that the pain of the injury was nothing compared to the pain in her heart. She missed her baby so much but there was nothing to do but hope and wait. Within a few days time, the good news they had been waiting for finally arrived, Maggie’s calf had been found! The calf was quickly brought to her mother and it was truly one of the most heartwarming reunions ever, it will literally make you smile from ear to ear! Huge thanks to RESQ Charitable Trust for bringing these two back together!
