Patriots vs. Raiders: Score, results, highlights from game in Mexico City

The Patriots technically were the away team for Sunday's Week 11 game against the Raiders in Mexico City, and it felt that way for New England in front of 77,000 fans at Azteca Stadium ... until the Patriots (8-2) stormed out to an early lead on their way to a 33-8 blowout of the Raiders (4-6).

The Patriots, who practiced during the week at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in order to prepare for the high altitude of Mexico City, have now won six consecutive games and were able to keep pace with the Steelers atop the AFC.

The Raiders, who had a bye last week and are hoping to remain a part of the AFC playoff picture, experienced the altitude of Mexico City last season, when they beat the Texans at Azteca Stadium in the first ever "Monday Night Football" game played outside the United States. That experience didn't do Oakland much good Sunday.

7:03 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, Patriots: Make that four field goals for New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski. His 29-yarder was the shortest of the game. 33-8 Patriots

6:53 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Raiders: It obviously was too little, too late, but Oakland finally found the end zone with about 12 minutes to play when Derek Carr hit Amari Cooper for a 9-yard touchdown pass. The Raiders then converted a two-point conversion when Carr connected with Michael Crabtree in the end zone. Some garbage time fantasy points, anybody? 30-8, Patriots

6:40 p.m.: End of third quarter.

6:37 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, Patriots: Stephen Gostkowski's third field goal of the game, a 40-yarder, was just as easy as his previous two. 30-0, Patriots

6:30 p.m. — TURNOVER ON DOWNS: New England was ready for Oakland's rush attempt on 4th-and-1, and fullback Jamize Olawale was stuffed for no gain. Patrick Chung was credited for the tackle, but a host of Patriots combined to stop the Raiders for the turnover.

6:20 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, Patriots: Stephen Gostkowski made what was considered a chip shot of a field goal in the high altitude of Mexico City. His 51-yarder extended the Patriots' lead. 27-0, Patriots

6:01 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Patriots: New England needed just 54 seconds of the second-half clock to extend its lead. Tom Brady connected with Brandin Cooks for a 64-yard touchdown pass, the duo's longest of the season, on just the third play from scrimmage in the third quarter. Cooks burned Raiders safety Obi Melifonwu on the play. Stephen Gostkowski made the PAT. 24-0, Patriots

5:40 p.m.: Halftime.

5:40 p.m. — FIELD GOAL, Patriots: A 62-yard field goal in the high altitude of Mexico City with little-to-no wind? Not problem at all for Stephen Gostkowski, who capped the first half with a monster boot as time expired. The New England kicker made the 62-yarder, a franchise record, easily. 17-0, Patriots

5:32 p.m. — TURNOVER: A crushing Raiders fumble occurred with just 33 seconds remaining in the first half and Oakland threatening to score before halftime. Seth Roberts lost the ball while trying to gain extra yards around the New England 7-yard line.

5:18 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Patriots: Don't give Tom Brady time to find a receiver in the red zone. Brady found Danny Amendola in the back of the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown to cap a nine-play, 80 yard drive that took a quick 3:32 off the second-quarter clock. Stephen Gostkowski made the PAT. 14-0, Patriots

4:55 p.m.: End of first quarter.

4:50 p.m. — TURNOVER: Raiders quarterback Derek Carr's deep pass to Johnny Holton bounced off the receiver's shoulder pad and into the hands of Patriots defensive back Duron Harmon for an interception at New England's 16-yard line. Holton was hurt on the play but jogged off the field on his own power after some attention from trainers. He entered concussion protocol but later returned to the game.

4:42 p.m. — TOUCHDOWN, Patriots: New England capped a monster of an opening drive when Tom Brady found Dion Lewis for a 15-yard touchdown pass. Brady completed all nine of his pass attempts on a drive that went 15 plays, 87 yards and took 7:07 off the clock. Stephen Gostkowski made the PAT. 7-0, Patriots

4:24 p.m.: The Patriots won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half.
