The Florida Gators begin the Phil Knight Invitational with a campus game against the New Hampshire Wildcats.
Florida is off to a red-hot start to the season with two 100-plus point games led by a group of sharp shooters. The Gators took down UNF 108-68 last game.
KeVaughn Allen led the offensive attack with 18 points. Following up a 34-point performance in his debut, Egor Koulechov got his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Gators spread the points pretty evenly with six players finishing in double figures. After two games, Florida is just one of three teams nationally averaging at least 25 assists per game.
That may not be as easy of a task this week as Florida takes on a New Hampshire team allowing an average of just 58.5 points per game over its first two contests. That stat is a little skewed due to a lopsided 95-39 win over Wheelock College to open the season, but the Wildcats played Texas somewhat tough in a 78-60 loss on the road last game.
New Hampshire returns three starters from a team that won 20 games a season ago.
Tanner Leissner leads the team on both ends of the court as he averages a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Jacoby Armstrong (13.5) and Iba Camara (11) also average double figure scoring.
The Gators hold a 3-0 all-time record over the Wildcats, but the two teams have not met since the start of this century.
Florida defeated New Hampshire 108-56 on the road in the most recent meeting in 2001. That could be some good mojo for a team that looks to continue its historic start to the season with another triple digit scoring game on Sunday.
