Herdsman Lake

Not far from us, near the Ikea, is Herdsman Lake. We stopped by to have a look at the local bird life. Of course, we found the Pacific Black Duck straight away.

We also finally got a good look at the Nankeen Night Heron trying his beak (?) fishing on the shore across from where we were standing.

The spectacular resident was the Great Crested Grebe. The head feathers really give this fellow some pizzaz.

The Laughing Kookaburra is also found in this part of the country. There was one on the lawn not far from us. He was picking through the thatch in the grass looking for food.

We also saw an Intermediate Egret stalking a bite for lunch in the marshy bits around the edge of the lake.
