The Smyrna Fire Department and the Smyrna/Lavergne Food Bank are teaming up for the 16th annual “Fire Fighters for Food” food drive.

The Nourish Food Bank provided 104,000 meals in 2016 to families with food insecurities. According to a study released in April 2015, 17.1% of Tennessee residents are food insecure, meaning they are unable, at times, to access enough food to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is above the 15.8% national average. Children are at a higher risk of food insecurity compared to the overall population and Tennessee’s child food insecurity rate is 25.4%; above the national rate. 57% of the families had to choose between food and mortgage with 80% having to choose between food and medical care.

Please help us make sure that no family, NO CHILD, in North Rutherford County has to go hungry this holiday season.  Please help us assist those who need just a little helping hand.

The Smyrna Fire Department will be collecting any non-perishable / non-expired (canned goods) Monday November 13th through Sunday, November 19th at anyone of the fire stations listed below.
