The remaining five names of those who died in the Mendocino Lake Complex (Redwood) Fire and where they were found have been released by the Sheriff’s Office.

Three names were released last week: Kai Logan Shepherd, 14, (for whose family $186,000 has now been raised) and couple Roy Howard Bowman, 87, and Irma Elsie Bowman, 88, all from Redwood Valley.

Also killed in the fire were:

Steve Bruce Stelter, 56, whose body was found near a vehicle outside a house in the 11300 block of West Road in Redwood Valley, according to the MCSO. They say it looked like he was preparing the vehicle for evacuation, when he was overtaken by flames. He had been living there with his girlfriend, Janet Kay Costanzo, 71, who was found dead in the burned remains of their house.

The bodies of Jane Gardiner, 83, and her caregiver, Elizabeth Charlene Foster, 64, were found in the 12500 block of Tomki Road in Redwood Valley, the house completely destroyed. Gardiner and Foster reportedly had called Gardiner’s stepson at 1:30 a.m. Monday and told him there was fire surrounding the house. They said they were waiting to be evacuated by the fire department.

Margaret Stephenson, 86, was found dead in her house’s ruins in the 12800 block of Tomki Road in Redwood Valley. She seemed to have been evacuating through the garage, but did not make it out.

The total death toll remains at eight, since the last official statement.
