Familiar names top Forbes 400 list of richest Mass. residents
Well-known names from Massachusetts’ business-elite remain atop of the Forbes 400 list of the richest people in Massachusetts.
Bay State residents with net worth figures between $2.4 billion and $16 billion occupy eight of the 400 spots on the exclusive list. Notably, half of those people are related.
Descendants of Edward Johnson II, the founder of Fidelity Investments, are among the richest people in Massachusetts. His granddaughter, Abigail Johnson, is the current President-CEO of the company and the richest individual in the state.

- Robert Kraft, New England Patriots - $6.2 billion
- Jim Davis, New Balance - $4.9 billion
- Edward Johnson IV, Fidelity - $3.6 billion
- Elizabeth Johnson, Fidelity - $3.6 billion
- Amos Hostetter Jr., Pilot House Associates - $3.3 billion
- Alan Trefler, Trefler Foundation - $2.4 billion
Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg remain the richest Americans overall. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump moved down from the 156th spot on last year’s list to the 248th position on the 2017 list.
