Another Boston-area school has canceled its traditional Halloween parade this year. The Boyden School in Walpole announced Tuesday that the decision was made after “careful consideration and discussion.” “During our conversations, we discussed how the costume parade is out of our ordinary routine and can be difficult for many students,” the school said in a release. The school said instead of a parade on Oct. 31, there will be "Black and Orange" spirit day. “As with all our spirit days, students can choose to participate or not,” the release said. The school will also host a "Monster Mash/Pasta Bash" on Oct. 20, to “provide the students a wonderful opportunity to come to Boyden and celebrate Halloween with their friends after school hours.” Last month, Needham's Mitchell Elementary School canceled Halloween events, saying the holiday is not inclusive and can be awkward for some children.
