Port Clinton slates Halloween Pub Crawl and Ball

PORT CLINTON - Main Street Port Clinton will be hosting its sixth annual Halloween Pub Crawl and Ball from 7 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 28.

Participants, dressed in their best costumes, will crawl to five participating pubs: Bait House, Clinton House, McCarthy’s, Rosie’s, and Slater’s Madison Street Pub.

Costume judging will take place at the Bait House from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets must be punched to enter the costume contest. 

Tickets can be purchased for $10 at Main Street’s office or any of the participating pubs. For more information, please contact 419-734-5503. 

Ribbon cutting held for Fremont's Anytime Fitness 


FREMONT - The Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of Anytime Fitness of Fremont, located at 1800 E. State St.

Anytime Fitness is a 24-hour, results-based fitness facility that offers personal training, group classes and tanning.

Members of Anytime Fitness have access to over 3,000 Anytime Fitness locations worldwide.

Magruder offers cancer support group

PORT CLINTON - Magruder Hospital’s monthly Cancer Support Group will be held on  Oct. 25, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. in the conference center.  

This support group is for anyone who has been impacted by cancer. There is a complimentary light lunch provided. Those who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP to 419-301-4317 by Oct. 23.                                                  

This support group provides a way for patients, caregivers and family members to connect with others to share information and resources. 
 

Goodwill Industries awarded 3-year CARF accreditation 


SANDUSKY - CARF International announced that Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa, and Sandusky Counties has been accredited for a period of three years for its community employment services, organizational employment services, and employee development services programs.

The latest accreditation is the eighth consecutive three-year accreditation that the international accrediting body, CARF, has awarded to this organization.

Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa, and Sandusky Counties is a nonprofit organization that has been providing employment services in its four-county area since 1973. 
 

Zoo presentation set at Bellevue Hospital event 


BELLEVUE - The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) monthly Mature Audience Luncheon is set for Thursday.

The Toledo Zoo will be presenting a live animal program. A question and answer session will follow.

The luncheon is being held in a new location, the Bellevue Society for the Arts, at 205 Maple St., in Bellevue. The luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The lunch fee of $3 per person will be collected at the door. Reservations are requested.

The Mature Audience luncheon, a monthly community service of the Bellevue Hospital, is open to the public. Anyone age 55 or older who is interested in attending is asked to pre-register by calling the hospital.

Farm Bureau plans youth leadership conference

COLUMBUS - Ohio Farm Bureau’s 2018 Young Ag Professionals Leadership Experience is open to young agriculturalists interested in building leadership skills, networking with agricultural leaders and making a difference in their communities.

The conference will be held Feb. 2-3, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus. Attendees must be Farm Bureau members and programming is geared for young adults age 18-35.

The event will feature 20 educational learning sessions that include small business planning, canning and preserving, emerging ag careers, farm transition planning, farm labor laws, managing conflict, creating farm videos and starting your own business.
