After years in business, we still find the whole process – from asking dealers what their customers need to fiddling with prototypes to holding the finished product in our hands – an exciting journey.
Now, for the first time ever, you can see how we develop our satellite radio adapters from start to finish!
Step 1: Responding To Market Demand
Many people have asked us how we decide which vehicles to accommodate. The short answer is that we listen to what people want. Here’s the long answer.
We work with a large network of major dealers and installers throughout the US. They’ll call us and let us know which of their cars are missing satellite radio. If we get enough calls about a particular vehicle, we’ll develop a compatible satellite radio adapter kit for that year, make, and model.
For example, we’re looking into developing kits for some Audi vehicles that don’t come standard with satellite radio. We’re also thinking about developing a kit for the 2018 Hyundai Sonata base model, which – you guessed it – also lacks satellite radio.
When a vehicle shows up on our radar, we determine the feasibility of developing a kit by doing two things:
- Visiting the manufacturer’s website and confirming that the car doesn’t come with satellite radio
- Sending our software engineer to dealerships to inspect the car and determine if creating a compatible satellite radio adapter is possible
Step 2: Developing And Perfecting The Satellite Radio Adapter Kit
When our software engineer gives us the green light to develop a kit for a particular vehicle, we start the process by borrowing a car from one of the dealers in our network. In the rare instance we can’t borrow a car, we’ll purchase an OEM radio from their parts department.
Next, we create an application by reverse-engineering the factory radio. We design and engineer every single product at our Denver-area facility.

Step 3: Quality Assurance Testing
To uphold the premium quality of our satellite radio adapters, we implement high standards and procedures during development, production, and in the testing stage.
To keep our failure rate low, we conduct two quality control testing processes for every single unit we send out. First, we connect the circuit board to the computer and pre-program it in-house to confirm that it’s working correctly. Next, we check the whole system’s functionality by connecting it to the car’s radio set up in our assembly line and test every aspect of the system.
Because we take quality assurance seriously, you can have total confidence in our satellite radio adapter kits. If a unit doesn’t meet our high expectations, we don’t send it out. Simple as that.
A Note On Manufacturer Warranty of the Satellite Radio Adapter Kits
We get a lot of questions about whether or not our kits affect the auto manufacturer’s warranty. The good news is that they don’t! Warranty violation involves physically altering something already in the car. Our kits don’t require splicing or splitting wires – the factory radio remains intact. With one of our kits, you’re only adding something to your car’s existing system.
