Ellen: As a 'Gay Woman,' I Could Never Have 'Dangerous' Trump on My Show

President Donald Trump will never appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

DeGeneres confirmed on her Wednesday episode that the president would not be receiving her airtime, after guest Megyn Kelly said she would be open to hosting Trump on her new NBC show, Megyn Kelly Today.

In response, DeGeneres said Trump is too "dangerous for the country and for me personally as a gay woman" to promote.

"He is who he is, and he has enough attention, and he has his Twitter account, and he has ways to get his message across. There's nothing that I am going to say to him that is going to change him, and I don't want to give him a platform, because it just validates him," DeGeneres said.

"And for me to have someone on the show, I really, I have to at least admire them in some way, and I can't have someone who I feel is not only dangerous for the country and for me personally as a gay woman, but to the world."

"He's dividing all of us, and I think I don't want him on the show," DeGeneres concluded to her audience's applause.

Barack Obama appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show multiple times while he served as president. In his 2016 visit, DeGeneres thanked him for "what you've done for the gay community." During his presidency, Obama signed hate-crimes legislation, repealed the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, and evolved on marriage equality.

Trump had pledged on the campaign trail to be an ally to LGBT people, but his administration has attacked LGBT rights on multiple fronts, including Trump's announcement of a ban on transgender troops.

This week, DeGeneres also hosted married military couple Logan and Laila Ireland, who spoke out against the ban.
