River View boys soccer team remains perfect

WARSAW - The River View boys soccer team has used offense to stay perfect through Tuesday's action.

The Black Bears scored a 4-0 win over Cambridge on Tuesday to improve to 9-0-0.

River View also had a 6-0 win over Coshocton and a 5-0 victory against Philo. Sean Watts had two goals in each contest to lead the Black Bears, and Gerik Snow also scored twice against the Redskins.

Carter Coffman and Ethan Brown picked up their first career goals, as Coshocton topped Massillon Washington 3-0. Kameron Brown picked up the shutout in net.

Tanner Moats scored a key insurance goal three minutes into the first half, helping Coshocton to a 3-1 win over Morgan. Braeden Wheeler and Blake Barrick also had goals.

Kennedy Wright scored on two direct kicks, leading River View past Mt. Vernon 5-1. 

Girls Golf

Sadie Wilson took medalist honors with a 39 in Ridgewood's 187-201 loss to Tusky Valley.

Lexi Zimmer led the Generals twice in the past week. She shot 42 in a 193-195 loss to Sandy Valley and scored a 44 in a tri-meet with Garaway and Fairless.

Marie Stufflebean led River View in three matches last week. She carded a 38 in a 160-182 loss to Garaway, posted a 43 in a tri-match with Indian Valley and Claymont and shot 47 in a tri-match with Strasburg and Indian Valley.

Boys Golf

Coshocton totaled 316 behind 78s by Clay Davis, Logan Desender and Reese Andrews to finish fourth in the River View Black Bear Invitational at Hickory Flats.

River View placed eighth in the event with 329, as Jaxon Rinkes shot 79 to lead the way, and Ridgewood was ninth (343) behind a 79 by Trey Stoffer.

Jacob George fired a 37 and Mason Waycaster added a 38 to lead Coshocton to wins against Tuscarawas Valley and Newcomerstown at Wilkshire.

Volleyball

Grace Hayes surpassed 1,000 career assists in River View's 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 26-28, 15-12 win over Marietta. Hayes had 29 assists, 16 kills and 13 digs, Bella Heddleson served 23 points with 13 digs and Sydnee Bice served 12 points with 23 assists and 13 kills.

Allie Williams served 11 points with nine kills and five blocks and Hayes added 18 assists, 12 points, 11 digs and six blocks, as River View topped Cambridge 25-14, 25-8, 25-18.

Morgan Mattis, Abbey Kellish and Cassie Mladek combined for 27 kills to lead Ridgewood past Tuscarawas Central Catholic 25-9, 25-15, 25-15. Matis finished with 10 kills and four blocks, Kellish nine kills and five aces and Mladek eight kills.

Payton Holdsworth served 11 points, Madison Miller chipped in 15 points, 11 assists and five aces and Kennedy Haley added five kills as Coshocton topped Zanesville 28-26, 25-17, 25-16.

Cross Country

Trevor Hawkins placed fourth (16:59) in Meadowbrook's Colt Carnival, as Ridgewood was 10th (249) in the boys race. Fred Doberstein (35th, 18:28) and Justin Conner (48th, 19:02) added top-50 finishes.

The River View boys were 11th (397) in the Boardman Invitational, highlighted by Sawyer Neal in 27th (17:30), Nathaniel Stamper in 60th (17:57.8) and Austin Hill in 61st (17:57.9). The River View girls were 24th (589) and led by Aliya Stevens in 53rd (21:28) and Sydney Stewart in 66th (21:43).
